J Hand Surg Am. 2017 Dec;42(12):978-986

60 patients with first carpometacarpal joint osteoarthritis were randomized to either the use of an allograft for suspension-interposition arthroplasty or to the use of a flexor carpi radialis tendon autograft. Patients were assessed for the primary outcome measure of the Michigan Hand Questionnaire over a 12-month follow-up. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups from 6 weeks to 12 months postoperatively. The incidence of complications was higher among patients who were operated on using the allograft as opposed to the autograft.
