180 patients scheduled for total hip arthroplasty were randomized to oral tranexamic acid, intravenous tranexamic acid, or intraarticular tranexamic acid. Results demonstrated no significant differences between the three groups in hemoglobin drop, total blood loss, or transfusion rate. Additionally, no patient in any of the groups developed DVT or PE. Cost analysis demonstrated significantly lower cost associated with oral tranexamic acid when compared to both IV tranexamic acid and IA tranexamic acid.
