Fusion rate of PEEK cage with or without β-tricalcium phosphate bone substitute in ACDF
Eur Spine J. 2018 Jun;27(6):1358-136445 patients scheduled for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion were randomized to either have a polyetheretherketone (PEEK) cage filled with a β-tricalcium phosphate bone substitute or a standalone PEEK cage not filled. Patients were followed for 2 years for fusion rate and clinical scores. Results after 2 years demonstrated no significant differences between groups in the fusion rate, Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), or visual analog scale (VAS) score.
