Dronabinol similar in safety and efficacy as diphenhydramine for neuropathic pain relief
Am J Phys Med Rehabil. 2010 Oct;89(10):840-8. doi: 10.1097/PHM.0b013e3181f1c4ec9 patients with spinal cord injury and experiencing chronic neuropathic pain were randomly assigned to treatment with either dronabinol or diphenhydramine for 56 days, and then crossed over to the other medication for 56 days after a 7-day washout period. Patient-reported pain intensity and the incidence of side effects were assessed at the beginning and the end of each medication phase. The results demonstrated that there was no significant difference in the efficacy and safety profiles between the two medications.
