Preoperative fascia iliaca block versus intraoperative psoas compartment block for analgesia in THA
J Arthroplasty. 2018 Jun;33(6):1770-177450 patients scheduled for total hip arthroplasty were randomized to a multimodal analgesia regimen including either a preoperative fascia iliaca compartment block or an intraoperative psoas compartment block. Patients were assessed for pain scores and narcotic consumption over the first 3 days postoperatively, as well as patient satisfaction at 3 weeks postoperatively. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups for any outcome measure.
