Seven randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included in this meta-analysis which sought to investigate the effect of low intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) on healing and complications in distraction osteogenesis treatment. Pooled analyses demonstrated no significant differences between LIPUS groups and sham/control intervention groups on the bone healing index measure, the incidence of pin tract infections, and the incidence of delayed or nonunion.
