Parecoxib use reduces pain and opioid consumption post-total knee arthroplasty compared to placebo
Int J Surg. 2018 Nov;59:67-744 randomized controlled trials were included in this meta-analysis, investigating the safety and effectiveness of parecoxib use compared to placebo in postoperative analgesia following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Outcomes of interest included knee pain and morphine consumption, measured at 6, 12 and 24 hours. Results from the meta-analysis found that postoperative parecoxib use resulted in better outcomes in pain relief, opioid consumption up to 24 hours after surgery.
