Intermittent pneumatic compression unnecessary in postoperative rehabilitation following DRF

120 patients with a distal radius fracture and had undergone volar plate fixation were randomized to postoperative therapy with or without the addition of intermittent pneumatic compression between weeks 4 and 11 post-operatively. Patients were followed up at the completion of the IPC treatment period (11 weeks) and at 52 weeks. Primary outcome was the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) performance and satisfaction scores, while secondary outcomes were pain, range of motion, and grip strength. Results demonstrated no significantly differences between groups in any of the assessed outcome measures.
