43 patients with a partial- or full-thickness rotator cuff tear were randomized to nonoperative treatment with either a suprascapular nerve block or subacromial injection. Patients were assessed for outcome on a modified Constant score at 2, 6, and 12 weeks after treatment. While no significant differences between groups were noted at 2 or 6 weeks, total modified Constant score was significantly greater in the SSNB group compared to the SA group, predominantly due to differences in the visual analog scale, range of motion, and power subscores.
