Non-displaced supracondylar humerus (SCH) fractures are among the most common paediatric fractures. Their optimal immobilization modality remains unclear. The authors of this study randomized 100 patients with Type I SCH fractures to a traditional fibreglass cast versus a long-arm, removable soft cast. Outcomes included fracture displacement, range of motion, pain, and satisfaction. Overall, there were no differences between the two groups on any outcomes, demonstrating that a soft removable cast can successfully treat these fractures.
