No reduction in surgical time or radiation exposure with new vertebral access devices in kyphoplasty
Arch Orthop Trauma Surg. 2019 Nov;139(11):1571-1577.91 compression fractured vertebral bodies in 65 patients were randomized to receive a balloon kyphoplasty with vertebral access achieved with the use of a Joline Vertebrae Access Device or one of two newer generation access devices (Joline RapidIntro Vertebrae Introducer Device; Joline SpeedTrack Vertebra Introducer Device). The primary outcomes of interest include operative time, intra-operative irradiation time and radiation dose area product. Results revealed no significant differences in all outcomes between the 3 groups.
