Ten studies including 402 patients were included in this meta-analysis comparing ketorolac supplementation and placebo for pain relief in patients undergoing knee arthroscopy. The primary outcomes of interest were pain scores at 1 and 2 hours post-operation. Secondary outcomes included time to first analgesic requirement, number of analgesic requirements, analgesic consumption and the incidence of nausea and vomiting. Pooled results of the meta-analysis revealed significantly favourable pain scores at 1 and 2 hours post-operation, longer time for first analgesic requirement and a lower incidence of analgesic requirement in the ketorolac supplementation group compared to the placebo group. The pooled results for analgesic consumption and the incidence of nausea and vomiting were not significantly different between the two groups.
