Focused extracorporeal shockwave therapy reduces pain in myofascial pain syndrome of trapezius
Medicine (Baltimore). 2020 Feb;99(7):e19085.Eight studies including 371 patients were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis examining the effectivness of extracorporeal shock wave therapy in patients with myofascial pain syndrome of the trapezius. Only five of the eight studies were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled outcome of interest was pain scores on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Results revealed significantly favourable pooled VAS pain scores in the focused extracorporeal shock wave therapy group compared to the control group.
