Shoulder & Elbow
No difference between subscapularis tenotomy and peel in patients undergoing anatomic TSA
J Shoulder Elbow Surg. 2020 Feb;29(2):225-234.

One hundred patients with advanced glenohumeral osteoarthritis scheduled for a anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) were randomized to receive subscapularis tendon management via a subscapularis tenotomy or peel procedure. The primary outcome of interest was the internal rotation strength of the shoulder at 24 months post-operation. Secondary outcomes of interest included the Wester Ontario Osteoarthritis of the Shoulder (WOOS) score, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) scores, the incidence of glenoid or humeral lucencies, range of motion, the incidence of tendon healing and complications. No significant differences were found between the two groups in all outcomes, at all time-points.
