Home based physical therapy cost effective rehabilitation option after ACL reconstruction
Am J Sports Med. 2010 Jul;38(7):1389-94. Epub 2010 Apr 1.88 women having undergone primary ACL reconstruction were randomized to undergo either a home based or the conventional rehabilitation program for three months after surgery. At a mean of 38 month after surgery, Anterior Cruciate Ligament Quality of Life Score (ACL QOL) was significantly better with the home based therapy than the therapy-supervised group. This study indicated that in a long-term, home-based rehabilitation program was a safe, effective, and less expensive option.
