Ten clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) provided recommendations on intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid (IA-HA) for the management of knee osteoarthritis (OA). The recommendations were not consistent due to the difference in development methodology of these guidelines. 30% of the included CPGs supported IA-HA to be an appropriate therapy under certain scenarios; 40% provided either undetermined recommendation or no recommendation; and 30% recommended against the use of IA-HA for knee OA.
