Efficacy and Safety of Repeated Courses of Hyaluronic Acid Injections for Knee Osteoarthritis

Semin Arthritis Rheum. 2018;48(2):168-75

Seven RCTs and 10 cohort studies with intra-articular hyaluronic acid (IA-HA) as the primary treatment option, at least one repeat course of IA-HA and that included knee pain as an outcome were included in this systematic review. The primary outcome was the reduction in knee pain. Secondary outcomes included the number of treatment-related adverse events (AEs) and serious treatment-related adverse events (SESs).
