Auto-graft Implantation System for focal chondral lesions

29 patients with focal defects of the articular cartilage were randomized to receive either control (microfracture) or the experimental Cartilage Autograft Implantation System treatment, to determine the safety and efficacy of CAIS. With a two year follow-up to assess the effect on patient function and pain, the results support CAIS as a safe and effective technique, as supported by significantly higher International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC), Knee injury, and Osteoarthritis Outcome (KOOS) Score results.
