Long gamma nails vs. sliding hip screw for proximal femur fracture fixation
J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2010 Apr;92(4):792-8.

210 patients admitted to the hospital with an AO/OTA 31-A2 fracture of the proximal part of the femur were randomized to be fixed with either a dynamic hip screw or a long gamma nail. At 1 year follow up, no differences in the clinical outcomes between the sliding hip screw and the long gamma nails for the fixation of AO/OTA 31-A2 fractures of the proximal femur were observed.
