Is robotic-assistance better for femoral stem preparation in THA?

146 patients (age range 47-67 yr) scheduled for primary cementless THAs were randomized to the rasping method for femoral stem implantation either by the robotic assisted method or the conventional hand rasping technique. At 5 year follow up the Robot-assisted primary THA resulted in lesser variance in the limb-length inequality and lesser stress shielding of the proximal femur 5 years postoperatively, the JOA scores were comparable between the groups.
