Single-event multilevel surgery in children with spastic diplegia

19 children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy were randomized to receive either single-event multilevel surgery or progressive resistance strength training to improve gait and functional outcomes. At 12 month follow-up participants who received the surgical procedure demonstrated significant improvements in both Gait Profile Score and the Gillette Gait Index. This was accompanied by a significant improvement in quality of life at 24 month follow-up.
