No advantage of dexamethasone injection for lateral elbow pain in 6 month period

64 patients with lateral elbow pain were randomly assigned to receive dexamethasone or a placebo injection, in order to evaluate the efficacy of dexamethasone. Assessments over a 6 month period indicated that corticosteroid injections for lateral elbow pain did not affect the clinical course or outcomes. It was also determined that the perceived disability associated with lateral elbow pain that affected a subset of patients was correlated with depression.
