42 men and women, above 45 years of age, with normal wrists were randomized to wear both a partially restricted and a highly restricted splint for 24 hours each. This study aimed to compare levels of functional impairment between these splinting techniques. The application of low-profile splinting in restricting the wrist motion demonstrated a direct relationship between the restriction of wrist motion and the functional disability caused thereof.
