Am J Sports Med. 2008 Apr;36(4):648-55. Epub 2008 Jan 11.

150 patients after undergoing primary ACL reconstruction with hamstring autograft were randomized to receive a functional brace or neoprene sleeve at their 6-week postoperative visit, which were instructed to be worn during physical activities for 12 months. During follow-up, patients were assessed using the Anterior Cruciate Ligament-Quality of Life (ACL-QOL) questionnaire, KT-1000 arthrometer for anterior tibial translation, the single-limb forward hop test, and the Tegner Activity Scale. The use of functional knee brace after ACL reconstruction did not provide any superior clinical outcomes compared to the use of a neoprene sleeve.
