3D reconstruction plate better than superiorly placed plate for clavicle fracture fixation

133 consecutive patients with displaced midshaft fractures of the clavicle were randomized to undergo open reduction and internal fixation with either the 3D contoured reconstruction plate or an S-shaped plate fixed superiorly. Where clinically indicated, the midshaft fractures of the clavicle exhibited better fixation and clinical outcomes with the 3D reconstruction plate than the standard method with one plate placed superiorly.
