30 patients requiring bilateral total knee arthroplasties (TKA) were randomized to undergo simultaneous TKAs using either a minimally invasive or conventional procedure, to assess differences in the time required to regain ROM and unassisted walking. Patients who underwent minimally invasive TKAs achieved unassisted walking (32 vs 45 days) and gained ROM faster than patients who underwent conventional TKAs.
