A Meta-analysis of Thromboembolic Prophylaxis Following Elective Total Hip Arthroplasty
J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2000 Jul;82-A(7):929-38.A meta analysis was performed to determine the safety and efficacy of various venous thromboembolism prophylaxis agents. The results of fifty-two trials (n =10929) utilizing bilateral venography to assess the presence of DVT among different treatment groups were used. The results showed Warfarin to be the safest and most efficacious agent compared to the low dose Heparin treatment was efficacious with the most safety issues.
