ChlorPrep and DuraPrep provide excellent results for the eradication of bacteria
J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2012 Mar 21;94(6):490-4.100 patients undergoing elective surgical procedures on the lumbar spine were randomized to the use one of two different surgical preparation solutions to assess their efficacy for use before surgical incision. Pre-preparation cultures identified a number bacterial flora in both groups. Eradication of bacteria flora was similar between the two groups post-preparation. Further studies are required to determine if the type of preparation solution affects the rates of infection.
