Medial parapalettar approach to TKA provides the best clinical outcomes

90 patients undergoing primary unilateral total knee arthroplasty for knee osteoarthritis were randomized to procedures using either a subvastus (SV) or a medial parapatellar (MP) approach. Follow up at 18 months indicated no differences in change in AKSS scores from baseline measures. However, AKSS functional scores at 12 and 18 months were significantly better in the MP group.
