66 patients undergoing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) for cervical degenerative disc disease were randomized to receive either a cervical plate with slotted-holes (dynamic) or fixed-holes (static). However, following subgroup analysis of single level and multiple level fusions, the dynamic plate demonstrated significant improvements for patients in multiple level fusion subgroup.
