174 thumbs suffering from trapeziometacarpal osteoarthritis were randomized to assess the efficacy of two different ligament reconstruction and tendon interposition methods, in comparison to trapezoid excision alone. Results at a minimum of 5 year follow-up demonstrated no differences in reported pain, function, range of motion and complications between the three groups.
