Recurrence rate of Dupuytren's contracture unaffected by full-thickness skin autograft

79 patients with Dupuytren's contracture of the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIP) were randomized to undergo either fasciectomy with Z-plasty or dermofasciectomy with a firebreak full-thickness skin autograft. The results from this study indicated that both procedures provided significant improvements in range of motion and grip strength. However, the use of the firebreak full-thickness skin autograft did not provide a reduction in recurrence rates.
