Comparable outcomes with (non)/operative treatment of medial collateral ligament rupture
Am J Sports Med. 2006 Jul;34(7):1134-40. Epub 2006 Feb 147 patients with combined grade III medial collateral ligament (MCL) and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries were randomised to receive either an operative treatment or nonoperative treatment of the injured MCL. Both groups had an early reconstruction treatment for the ACL injury using bone-patellar tendon-bone graft. The primary outcomes were based on clinical and functional results. Comparable outcomes with the operative and nonoperative treatments of medial collateral ligament ruptures when ACL reconstruction occurs early.
