Radiofrequency microtenotomy successful in the treatment of lateral epicondylitis
Am J Sports Med. 2008 Oct;36(10):1960-5. Epub 2008 Jun 1624 patients with lateral epicondylitis were randomized to undergo either a radiofrequency microtenotomy or extensor tendon release and repair to compare clinical outcomes between these two treatments. The results indicated that the microtenotomy procedure resulted in earlier pain relief that persisted throughout 10 to 18 months, and a significant improvement in grip strength. The results demonstrated that this microtenotomy treatment is considered a safe and effective alternative to extensor tendon; however, more clinical trials are needed to support this finding.
