66 female patients with varus deformity osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee were randomised to receive either an intervention using lateral wedged insoles with subtalar strapping or an intervention using in-shoe lateral wedged insoles. The primary outcomes were pain, function, and radiographic bone alignment (femorotibial angle). The results indicated that patients receiving the lateral wedged insoles with subtalar strapping intervention reported a decrease in the femorotibial angle (FTA) and improved pain and function scores (Lequesne index for knee OA).
