Lumbar spinal fusion rehab: biopsychosocial considerations lower patient demands
Eur Spine J. 2006 May;15(5):648-56. Epub 2005 Jun 490 patients undergoing lumbar spinal fusion were randomised to receive one of three postoperative rehabilitation protocols. The three protocols were video instruction, a back cafe protocol, or exercise therapy. The primary outcome was the patient demand on the primary health care sector (costs). The results indicated that rehabilitation programs with biopsychosocial considerations (e.g. back cafe' intervention) lower demands to primary health sector in regards to costs.
