Patellar tendinopathy: surgery results in comparable outcomes to eccentric training
J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2006 Aug;88(8):1689-9835 patients (40 knees) with patellar tendinopathy were randomized to receive open patellar tenotomy or eccentric strength training. While there was significant improvement in all patients for knee function scores over 12 months, the improvement did not differ significantly between the two groups. Additionally, there was no difference between the two groups at the end of the study in global evaluation scores, satisfaction with treatment or jumping and strength performance.
