Femoral block administered before hospitalization provides better analgesia in knee trauma

52 patients presenting with painful knee trauma, who required transportation before treatment, were randomized to administration of either a femoral nerve block or an IV metamizole injection at the injury site. Patients with painful knee trauma experienced an early reduction of pain, anxiety, vasoconstriction, and tachycardia when they were administered with a femoral nerve blockade before hospitalization rather than intravenous metamizole.
