Cross-linked polyethylene liners improve THA outcomes
J Arthroplasty. 2012 Sep;27(8 Suppl):2-7.e1. Epub 2012 Jun 6.220 patients underwent 230 total hip arthroplasties and were randomized to receive either cross-linked polyethylene liners or non-cross-linked polyethylene liners. 162 of the 230 total hip arthroplasties were assessed approximately 9 years after surgery. The cross-linked group achieved significantly higher survivorship (end point: revision for wear-related complications) than the non-cross-linked group and also achieved a significantly lower mean linear wear rate and incidence of clinically important osteolysis.
