Perturbation training improves movement patterns and strength following ACL reconstruction

19 patients with acute, isolated ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament were randomized to two different pre-operative training programs to assess their effect on post-operative strength and movement patterns. The first group received a perturbation training program in combination with strength training; the second group received just the strength training program. The results from this study indicated that both groups demonstrated improved quadriceps strength, while only the perturbation groups saw improvements in movement patterns.
