41 patients suffering from acute whiplash associated disorders (WAD) were randomized to receive treatment using either kinesio taping or sham taping. Results from a number of recent case studies have indicated that kinesio taping may provide both functional and pain benefits in the shoulder. This study assessed the effect of kinesio taping on WADs in a short term randomized controlled trial (RCT) when compared to a sham treatment. The results from this study indicated that kinesio taping provided immediate reductions in pain and also improved cervical range of motion when compared to the sham group.
