This meta-analysis included 7 randomized controlled trials comparing cryotherapy and a placebo in patients who received anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Pooled results from the analysis indicated that patients who received cryotherapy experienced significantly less postoperative pain than those who received the placebo. There was no difference between the two groups for postoperative drainage and range of motion.
