Distal Radius Fracture: Better shot-term outcomes with dynamic vs static external fixation
Injury. 2012 Jul;43(7):1006-13. doi: 10.1016/j.injury.2011.11.018. Epub 2011 Dec 16Six randomized controlled trials and two comparative studies (998 patients) were included in this meta-analysis to compare the clinical and radiological outcomes of dynamic and static external fixation for unstable distal radius fractures. There was a trend of obtaining better clinical results and range of motion (such as extension, supination, and pronation) in favour of the dynamic group; for radiological outcomes, a better result (in regards to radial length) was observed in the dynamic external fixation group.
