79 patients undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were randomized to receive repair with either Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) or a standard repair to determine if PRFM was able to improve repair integrity or functional outcomes. After a year of follow up, the PRFM did not have an effect on tendon healing, tendon vascularity, manual muscle strength, or clinical ratings. Conversely, PRFM was a predictor of tendon defect at 12 weeks, demonstrated through regression analysis.
