Knee. 2009 Aug;16(4):256-61. Epub 2009 Jan 15.

52 female patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to receive one of three treatments to assess the effects on pain, muscle strength, and loss of proprioception associated with OA. Patients were randomly assigned to whole body vibration (WBV) exercise on a stable platform, WBV on a balance board, or to a control group (no intervention). The results from this study indicated that both WBV exercise groups were able to provide significant improvements in muscle strength and proprioception in comparison to the control group.
