23 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 10 prospective cohort studies were identified to evaluate the efficacy of autologous blood concentrates in decreasing pain and improving healing and function for patients with orthopaedic bone and soft-tissue injuries. Results from both types of studies indicated that the use of platelet-rich plasma provided no significant benefit up to and including 24 months.
