Motor recovery and functional abilities of the hand improved with mirror therapy
Disabil Rehabil. 2013 Jan 22
Contributing Authors

HR Rostami A Arefi S Tabatabaei

30 patients who had suffered orthopaedic hand trauma were randomized to receive a standard rehabilitation programme or mirror therapy (MT) to determine its effect on short-term motor recovery and functional outcomes. Total active motion (TAM) and DASH scores were recorded at the end of the 3 week programs and then an additional 3 weeks post-intervention. The results suggested that MT significantly improved total active motion and DASH outcomes when compared to standard rehabilitation.
