Vitamin D supplementation has no major impact on knee OA symptoms or progression
JAMA. 2013 Jan 9;309(2):155-62. doi: 10.1001/jama.2012.164487

146 patients were randomized to evaluate the effect of vitamin D supplementation on the symptoms and structural progression of knee osteoarthritis (OA). Patients with knee OA received either placebo or oral cholecalciferol (2000 IU/d) and were assessed after 2 years. Results revealed that vitamin D supplementation for 2 years did not reduce knee pain or cartilage volume loss in comparison to the placebo.
