74 patients who underwent arthroscopic ACL reconstruction were randomized to receive either a neuromuscular exercise (NE) program or a standard strength exercise (SE) program. This study compared subjective and objective outcomes at 6 month, 1 and 2 year follow-ups. Significantly improved knee function was found in the NE group at 6 month follow-up, but this difference diminished with further long term follow-ups. The SE group demonstrated significantly improved hamstring muscle strength 1 year post-operatively.
