Posterior capsular stripping: No improvement in knee flexion or ROM compared to control
Knee. 2011 Dec;18(6):474-9. doi: 10.1016/j.knee.2010.10.002. Epub 2010 Oct 30

128 patients were randomized to examine whether stripping of the posterior knee capsule could improve flexion and range of motion (ROM) following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Patients received posterior capsular stripping (PCS) or no stripping, and were assessed at 3 months and 1 year postoperatively. Results revealed that while posterior capsular stripping caused a transient increase in flexion after wound closure, no improvements in knee flexion or ROM were observed postoperatively.
